Data Collector | Detroit Institute of Arts

Researches museum visitor interactions with existing and upcoming exhibitions.  Conducts interviews with visitors and collects tracking and timing data in gallery spaces.  Synthesizes data to present ways to enhance the DIA visitor experience.

 

September 2016 - August 2017

Community Arts Coordinator | Focus: HOPE

Served as lead teacher and coordinator for 5th-8th grade Excel Photography Program and 1st-3rd grade New Paradigm Glazer Elementary After School Art Club.  Developed lesson plans, organized field trips, and mentored youth. Assisted in production and

curation of the "In Pursuit of Hope" documentary and exhibition focused on the HOPE Village and the 50th Anniversary of

Detroit's 1967 Rebellion.

Arts Activist | Community Art Action 

Engaged youth and families in arts education through programming and community workshops. Organized the community around

the funding of arts education in Washtenaw and Wayne County public schools. Developed community art projects individually and collaboratively with other artists.

Designed, researched, and executed the Leesta social media strategy on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts using Hootsuite. Paid special attention to marketing language, increasing following, media campaigns, and brand consistency for

an EdTech company that empowers young women.

Video Editing Assistant | Goodeye Video

Collaborated with the co-founders of Goodeye Video to edit and animate videos for their clients, ioby and City Year.  

Assisted in researching the marketing strategies used in a sample of 200 videos made for non-profit organizations.

Camera Operator and Stagehand | University of Michigan Duderstadt Video Studio

Operated professional-grade video equipment to document a variety of shows, installations, and performances.

Assisted in set-up and take-down of these events.

Managed and advised video-journalists creating Opinion video content for The Michigan Daily. Oversaw production, quality, and efficiency of the Opinion video section in addition to my own regular production of videos for the publication.

Submissions Intern | Ann Arbor Film Festival

Organized over 3,000 film submissions for screening. Assisted in the planning, production, and operations of the film festival

with a team of interns. (Has screened films for 2015, 2016, and 2017 festivals)

Summer Youth Dialogues Facilitator | The Program on Intergroup Relations

Co-created and co-facilitated social justice curriculum for high school students in Metropolitan Detroit about race, ethnicity, and

other intersecting identities with a team of facilitators. Mentored students in creating action plans to implement in their communities.

Gallery Preparator and Attendant | University of Michigan Duderstadt Gallery

Installed, designed, and attended to rotating exhibitions in the gallery space.

Intern | Artrain Inc.

Played a critical role in the opening of a multimedia exhibition featuring sixty-three artworks. Designed the layout of the exhibition. Recruited, trained, and organized tour guides to give educational tours to local K-12 students.

Assisted guests of all ages in painting ceramic pieces.  Prepped materials and glazed and fired ceramic pieces.

Studio Assistant | Winter Street Studios

Assisted Houston painter, Ellen Orseck, in the studio.  Prepared canvasses, performed material studies, and researched areas

of interest for paintings.
